We drove to Jenni Lake yesterday! Okay so it isn’t spelled just like my name but there really is a Jenny Lake here in Colorado! Rugby Dude, Cody and I packed up “Big Whitey” for a day of adventure in the mountains yesterday. We left the heat of Denver behind us (102°) as we drove through Golden and up to the Moffatt Tunnel for some cooler temperatures and some fresh air. We took the dirt roads of old Rollins Pass at 11,660 feet in elevation and boy was it a bumpy ride (but a ton of fun). This was the original route of the railroad built in 1903. It was really interesting to see the Continental Divide up close and personal. A little piece of Colorado history right in our own backyard. sigh…I love Colorado. Nothing is too far away to visit in a day.

aren’t they adorable?

The other night Cody was going nuts at the screen door, so I got up to see what he was fixated on. Outside, coming up out of the storm drain were a family of five raccoons! All walking in a straight line, with mama at the lead they ran up into the tree in front of our house. We were able to get some pictures of a few of them before they ran off int the night to do their raccoonny things.

I went to see Maroon 5!!!

Rugby Dude is the best boyfriend ever. He surprised me with tickets to see Maroon 5 last night :) We were lucky because their first show sold out so fast they added another one at the Filmore Auditorium. They were awesome. I tried to get some pics and videos because they gave a great show. I was so excited to see them again because the first time I saw them in ’04 they were awesome. I probably embarrassed RD a little…I think I was the only one dancing by myself and jumping around like a teenager ha ha. Thanks for being so great RD, I love you.

We were lucky enough to be among the 40,000 beer lovers to attend this years Great American Beer Festival on Friday. We were fortunate to even get tickets because it sold out pretty quickly this year. Our luck got even better as we hooked up with the gang from Bull and Bush Brewery (thanks Sam!) We donned fabulous orange jumpsuits and paraded from their hotel to the seemingly endless line of festival goers at the Convention Center. Every year at the GABF the Bull and Bush guys make a grand entrance into the crowd, music blaring from a home made boom box on wheels, orange jumpsuits, in years past they wore giant orange fro wigs, all while weaving and dancing through the crowd yelling through a bullhorn “eternal happiness at the Bull and Bush!”. At first I wasn’t sure what we were getting ourselves into, but it turned into a lot of fun. We got a lot of attention while wearing the jumpsuits, we did resemble convicts after all. It was a big hit. We tried dozens of beers that night, some good some bad, some ugly…but it was a blast. I’m already excited to go again next year!
