hello roommie

So I guess its been about three weeks now since Ive been here in Denver and things are going pretty well so far. Although I forgot about the process it takes to get used to living with someone again. I mean its been three years since Ive had a roommate that doesn’t walk on all fours. Its been even longer for Rugby Dude…and hes never had a live-in girlfriend.
Not to say that I am an expert or anything, Ive only lived with two boyfriends in my life, but they were for long periods of time…I forgot about the introductory period it was so long ago. Not to mention that RD and I were in a long distance relationship before this. It definitely takes some getting used to. Cheese and Rice.
The sleeping situation is probably the hardest thing we will have to tackle. He isn’t having a problem but suddenly I cant sleep in the tiny little space that I have on the edge of the bed. I got rid of my king sized bed before I left Austin, and we are sleeping in his newer and “more comfortable” queen sized mattress. I know that I am a giant bitch in the middle of the night when he innocently rolls over on my face, but gah… I guess I have a certain level of awareness of where he is laying and what position he is in during the night so that I don’t “accidentally” knee him in the nuts as I roll over!
The good news: we inherited a king sized bed last weekend and will be using it at the new place next month. Yay!
I think the hardest thing for him to get used to is having two other beings hanging around his house all the time. Cody is a very snuggly dog, and he will follow you around wherever you are, no matter if you are going to the bathroom, or getting dressed…Cody is always there. Hes just a people dog. I guess I am just used to it. I do notice things more now about Cody. The other thing is that he sheds soooo much! I vacuum almost every two days now because of the balls of black hair rolling around on the floor under our feet. RD calls them Ghost Turds. That makes me laugh.
Since before I got here, Ive been interviewing with a company here in Denver for a position as an Office Administrator and actually had three really great phone interviews with them when I was still living in Austin. It has been three weeks of me being here, in RD’s house, waiting around for them to call me back and give me an answer. I’m sure I have been getting on his nerves being here all the time. Watching really trashy TV, sitting on his couch, taking up room…and I really should get outside more, I’m just lazy and like being at home.
The good news: I found out today that I got the job and I start tomorrow! Yay! $2.00 more an hour than my last job!
So, even though we are still getting used to each others quirks we are getting along brilliantly. He is such an easygoing guy, I don’t have to walk on eggshells around him and we hardly bicker about things. Its been a pleasure living with him. I hope he feels close to the same about me. So far so good!

Yay on the job! That is so great!! I feel like you did awhile back, I am at this point where I have no job and everything that we had planned for this year has been on hold. Sucks ass! I am trying to remain optimistic but somedays are harder than others!
I am glad that you are enjoying being back in Colorado and loving every minute with RD. I know what you mean about the dog hair – I have to do that every other day also. I never knew a dog could shed so much! You would think that they would be bald by now considering how much hair they shed on an almost hourly basis! Sheesh!
Anyways, Good Luck tomorrow with the job! I hope it is everything that you want it to be!
Later…
Yay for EVERYTHING (I haven’t posted in awhile)!! Sounds like things are going super great!! All it takes it one step at a time and it sounds like you are taking them steps perfectly! Key word: Communication. It’s a great thing!
I am so happy for the 2 of you. Oh, and I hope you turn out to like your new job too. :)
Good luck girl ! I’ve been through the whole “you stay on your side, I’ll stay on mine” bed sharing thing and it’s never easy, especially when you are accustomed to having the whole hog to yourself.
About Cody’s shedding, have you ever tried a Shedding Blade ? I know they look like some kind of torture device, but it’s my secret weapon when my own black lab Gypsy Rose decides to dump her whole undercoat every six months. Just remember to do it OUTSIDE, I made the mistake of doing it inside the first time, the couch and I came out looking like oddly shaped black labs.
Yay! Have been wondering how things were going!
