Its amazing how much a simple little thing can just brighten your day.

I guess Ive always been a helper. And for almost 10 years now I have been somebodies assistant. It wasn’t something I consciously went into when I started working. It was just something I slowly grew into without really noticing. When I worked in Denver I was operations manager for a company, but I was more an assistant to my bosses than I was a manager to anyone. I felt like it was a girl thing- I was the only one who knew where everything was, knew where to find things, and knew who to talk to for the answers. I was just the girl who would get stuff done.

Then when I moved here I got a job through a friend of the family and discovered that I was really good at doing a lot of the tedious things that no one else wanted to do. I like doing meticulous things. That’s how my brain works I think.

So now after three jobs and nine+ years under my belt I am officially an administrative assistant. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love doing what I do. I know that no matter where I go, what job I do, I will be happy doing it.

Today, I got a surprise visit from Destiny (the girl who helped me get my current job) She was holding a little envelope and handed it to me with a smile quickly zooming away to deliver the rest of her greetings. I opened the envelope to find a Thank you card. Inside it read “You’re really appreciated!  Thanks for taking pride in your work and the extra time to make sure things are done right!  Happy Administrative Professionals Day!”

And that my friends, was enough to make it all worth it.
