weekend update

Whew, its been a busy week! My Denver trip was fantastic of course, although the warm weather followed me there :) I was hoping for snow! I will just have to go back soon! Rugby Dude was just wonderful, even cooked breakfast for me one morning. We went through some of his boxes he hasn’t gotten to since his move, and we basically just lounged around most of the weekend. All in all it was a good trip. I hated to come back.
It was all made better on Friday night though because Rugby Dude flew to Austin for the weekend! I had Monday off as a holiday so we figured we should make the most of it. As Rugby Dude was coming down the escalator to baggage claim I was distracted by a man I thought looked very familiar- it was Glen Campbell! Weird. After our star sighting we went straight downtown for a few drinks on 6th street. It was packed down there- everyone celebrating Mardi Gras early (any excuse to party right?)
We had so much fun we went back the next night and met up with one of RD’s Denver friends who happened to be in town. On the way downtown my car started acting funny, and eventually we started to smell something awful and smoke started coming from my hood! We pulled over and RD looked under the hood, thank gawd he knows a little about cars because if I were alone I would have freaked out. From the light in our flashlight we could see that a belt had been shredding and was melting in the engine. He reassured me the car would be fine for the night and we went about finding fun in downtown Austin.
There was much fun to be had, and I couldn’t believe the crowds. People were all dressed up in costumes, beads were everywhere and police security was amazing. We met up with RD’s friend and had a few drinks and just bar hopped. At one point in the evening I partook in something I haven’t done since college. It shall remain nameless but lets just say- I did inhale. It was good for me I think- otherwise I would have just worried the whole evening about my car, but after that I wasn’t worried about a thing :) It was a blast.
On Sunday we took my car in to have it looked at- and found out the tension gear had seized and was shredding my belt, but they couldn’t fix it that day. So we were sort of trapped at the house all day, but it was still a great day. I made lasagna and we watched movies, it was nice and Cody loved the fact that we were home all day.
On Monday we took the car to the dealership and dropped it off. I had to rent a car because they weren’t sure when they would have it fixed. Once again, I worried about money and how much I would have to dig into my savings (the money I’m saving to move to Denver) but we didn’t let it ruin our day. We went to breakfast and went home for a nap, and then we went to see Night at the Museum. it was an early night to bed because we both had to be up early- RD for his shuttle to the airport and me for work. It was a quick goodbye Tuesday morning because his shuttle showed up early. Cody and I were sad when he left.
Some good news happened on Tuesday though, I got my car back all fixed up and come to find out it was still under warranty! YAY! I was so relieved not to have to spend a lot on getting it fixed. It made my day.
