Kind of like the "dormitory effect" (which, by the way happens too). People start caring too much about the people we work with - even when we dislike them. Sometimes being overly nice is used to hide the dislike - while not really hiding it at all. Sometimes the concern looks like niceness, but it's really about not wanting the person to become their freaked out self. Kind of a self-preservation from bitchiness disguised as caring. : ) There is something that happens when working in a corporate environment.
